B.Sc DEGREE PROGRAMME IN STATISTICS
- ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications.
(i) At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics/Statistics and any other science or relevant social science (Economics, Accounting, Geography and Business students) subjects.
(ii) At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following:
(a) Data processing (DDP)
(b) Science Labouratory Technology (DSLT)
(c) Analytical and Industrial Chemistry (DAIC)
(d) Mathematics Education (DME)
(e) Computer Engineering (DICE)
(f) Diploma in Geology (DIG)
(g) Computer Science (DCS)
(h) Accounting, Banking and Finance
(i) Maritime Studies (DMS)
(j) Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) - GRADUATION REQUIREMENT
i. For candidates admitted through UTME, 130 minimum numbers of credit hours which must include core and mandatory courses should be earned for graduation, while for those through direct entry admission, 100 minimum numbers of credit hours which must include core and mandatory courses should be earned for graduation.
ii. Maximum number of years for graduation is 9 years for candidates admitted through year 1 and 8 years for candidates through direct entry admission.
iii. Minimum CGPA for graduation is 1.50.
iv. Other requirements: A graduating student must pass the General Studies Examinations. - CONDITIONS FOR WITHDRAWAL
A student is expected to register for a minimum of twenty (20) credits in any given session. Any student who accumulates less than 10 credits in any given session shall be expected to withdraw from the programme.
